Mrs W F Cockrell of Delray Virginia leapt into the Washington Monument elevator shaft from a high landing and fell more than 500 feet to her death. She left a note for her husband saying she could not recover from an ailment and climbed between rails near the top before plunging down.

New York February 24 The government alleges that Remington Metallic Cartridge and Winchester Arms shipped three and a half million cartridges weekly to Great Britain. The claim appears in response to the Supreme Court suit by Marcellus Dodge against the Flint company. A Redlands man charged with assaulting a six year old boy hanged himself in the local jail before arraignment. He used a short rope bound to a steel bar, leaving investigators to determine the circumstances. The incident occurred February 24 in the jail cell.

Two Spaniards Killed Riding a Motorcycle
In San Bernardino on Base Line near Palm Avenue two Spaniard orange pickers died instantly after their motorcycle struck a Highland-San Bernardino bus. One victim was identified as Sipriano Contreras. a passenger, John Gourley, was injured in the collision. The bus driver Byron Benson said the motorcycle traveled fast and did not turn as the bus angled to avoid it. The skulls and necks of the riders were broken and the crash severely damaged the bus.
