Assaulted by companions loses watch and money
Thomas Hoyt, an employee of Garnsey and Pitzer, was assaulted on Sunday evening after drinking with Ed Brown and Perry Hayes. Hoyt lost a gold watch and $45, with three men reportedly involved, though details are unclear and all were intoxicated. Night watch uses red light signal for city calls
A red night signal light was installed at Sixth and Main to aid the night watchman. The light is visible from most of his beat and a switch in the telephone office allows the night operator to summon him if needed. A telephone call can now promptly alert the watchman.

Ill visitor saved after night of care at hotel
Mr. Stone of Ithaca New York and his daughter were called to Miss Platt's bedside when the visitor suddenly fell ill at the Hotel Del Rey. Doctors Chapman and Root worked through the night to save him. He was later transported to a Los Angeles hospital and is reported out of danger.
