Fire destroys home of Elmer Page on Sheridan Street

Sunday fire of unknown ignition destroyed the five room bungalow of Elmer Page on Sheridan Street between Fourth and Fifth. Water pressure was low and the loss is total with no insurance. Mrs Page sustained minor burns while rescuing children and neighbors collected 57 dollars to aid the family.

Funeral Held for Walter Coseboon at Long Beach

Funeral services for Walter Coseboon who died from home burns were held at Walkers chapel in Long Beach last Thursday. About 300 mourners from Corona Riverside Los Angeles Newport and Long Beach attended as pallbearers from the local Eagles lodge represented the community.

Missing man found in the city mystery solved

Irwin Lenz a Corona City Bakery worker disappeared Christmas afternoon from Ramona street and was found in Los Angeles with no memory of the event. His wife arranged his return. Police searched alleys and side streets but found no trace until Los Angeles report. The cause of amnesia remains unknown and there was no robbery motive.

A D Morton Passes Away in Arlington Hospital

Alanson D. Norton known as A D Morton died at Arlington hospital Friday at 74 from old age infirmities. Funeral services were held at his daughter Mrs Byler’s home on Seventh Street with Rev B B Jacques officiating. He is survived by his wife and daughter in the city and a daughter and brother in Santa Ana and a sister in the east. Interment followed at Sunny Slope cemetery after two years’ residence here with the Baptist church friends.

Automaker George Brock cited in accident injuring lineman

George Brock manager of the Fairchild-Gilmore-Wilton Co. had no horn on his auto and ran down H. Warner a Pacific Telephone lineman near the Porphry quarry. Warner sustained a severely cut and bruised right arm but escaped serious injury.

Tennis Club Dance Invitations for New Year Event

The ae Club issued invitations for a New Years dance at Masonic hall on Friday evening. Members prepared to ensure guests had a good time and the event is the second in a series said to surpass the first. Bates’ orchestra will provide the music. High School Team Rout Town Team on Christmas Day

The High School defeated the Town team 15 to 0 in a Christmas Day football game. A strong crowd watched as the High School opened with a kickoff and scored twice, including a drop kick by Corkhill. Wells officiated fairly, and the contest ended with the ball in Town territory.

Auto Fire Destroys L Walman Stanley Steamer Near Riverside

A Stanley Steamer owned by L C Walman of Riverside burned Sunday afternoon near the J T Hamner ranch east of Orchards. The loss was nearly total with the cause unknown though a broken pipe may have started the blaze. Walman was en route to Corona with companions when flames erupted under the car. occupants escaped as the vehicle was consumed. The car cost about $2000, was insured only partially, and Walman had owned it for about two years.

Italian barber's house gutted by fire with robbery motive

Peter Milazzo, an Italian barber on Main Street, saw his residence at 18 Barbers House gutted by fire on a Friday night. Investigators suspect incendiary activity tied to a robbery, with gasoline scenes and money hidden under a pillow missing. Milazzo escaped, a doctor attended him, and the home was partially insured with H N Sweet as investigators probe the blaze.

Christmas Aftermath In Joy Street Misadventure

Joe Duprey was found by the city marshal near his shack on Joy street after a Christmas party, suffering a drunken state. He pleaded guilty before Justice Hall and chose a twenty dollar fine or ten days in jail, and is now in custody while attempting to raise the money.
