Young volunteers from Washington and Lincoln schools joined the Woman's Improvement Club to plant blue spruce trees on school grounds. L. R. Nichols directed the Lincoln planting with songs and remarks by Rev. C. S. Mook and a reading by Miss Elizabeth Andrews. A similar ceremony occurred at Washington, followed by a third tree in the city park.

White Star Line to Pay 664000 in Titanic Claims
The White Star Line agreed to settle 664000 in claims from the Titanic disaster of April 15 1912. About 500000 goes to American claimants 50000 to British claimants and 114000 for interest and expenses. Forty four attorneys representing over sixty claimants accept the terms. Each American claimant will receive about 20 percent of his claim. no pro rata distribution.
