A December afternoon recital at 816 West Eighth Street by Mrs. J. S. Mayfield and her pupils impressed the audience with polished performances. The event ended with a social period and refreshments of cake and cocoa, drawing praise for both teacher and students.
An entertainment by public school children at the Woman's Club house aims to raise funds for city playground equipment. The program begins at 7 30 sharp with acts including a Japanese drill rope drill Uncle Sam party Mother Goose Rhymes folk dancing and chorus led by Miss Oliver. Smaller items for sale will include doll clothes and pin cushions.
Plans for the Municipal Xmas tree progress with a community wide effort to share in the season. A union service program is planned for Saturday and Sunday nights at the corner of Eighth and Main with hymns and carols. A Monday City Hall meeting will coordinate gifts distribution and church group involvement to practical plans.
The Corona Dollar enters the First National Bank amid holiday decor and a Merry Xmas sign. It advises Corona to keep money local while helping with the Buy it at home this Christmas campaign and pays for a purchase at W. L. Lyman & Son's store before 2 PM.

Children will process with the choir and place gifts in a manger for a Los Angeles mission, while older members contribute vegetables food clothing or cash for local aid. Congregation members will bring offerings to spread Christmas joy in the city.
