Riverside County Charter Draft Submitted by Freeholders

The Riverside County Board of Freeholders completed work on a draft county charter and set a public meeting for next Monday at 3 PM in the Riverside supervisors room to invite public input before final ratification. The committee will then meet to confirm changes, with a seven-member board structure outlined and district boundaries described for districts 1 through 7.

Corona Oranges Roll Eastward From Corona District

The first carload of navels from Corona is rolling east to New York under the Orange Heights Homer Brand. Manager Roberts says the half box pack is tailored for the Christmas trade and attractive. A duplicate shipment heads to Boston tonight, with four more cars planned for midwestern markets later in the week. The fruit comes from Glen Ivy, O Holcomb groves, and C J Cotton South Main street ranch.

Hann Jubilee Singers Set for High School Concert

The Hann Jubilee Singers arrive in Corona with a December 11 concert at the High School auditorium at 8 o clock. Contralto Mayme Morrison and tenor George Garner lead a first class program by real Negro artists, promising a strong financial return for the students. Garner, Virginia born and Chicago trained, is noted as the troupe's top tenor.

The Corona public schools board approved a School Banking System and it now operates with enthusiasm among pupils. Riverside and Arlington Invited to Help Celebrate

At a Corona celebration committee meeting in city hall all members attended except one due to business in Los Angeles. Mayor Pentelow was authorized to confer with Riverside and Arlington chambers of commerce on participation. A general meeting of interested communities is set for next Friday at three o'clock to discuss how to mark the Pacific Electric Railway trolley link completion.

Gambling Mexicans Receive Sentences in Raid

Ten Mexicans arrested in yesterday's raid faced hearings late at night. Two turned state's evidence and were released. Victoria Alatorino, alias Gooson, owned the dive and paid a $100 fine for fifty days in jail. Remainder fined $25 to $10. De Ando faces concealed weapons charge. None paid fines, choosing lockup instead.

Wilson signals final major legislative push complete

President Wilson told the nation that his administration’s program affecting business is practically completed and a clear path for recovery lies ahead. He warned war has disrupted trade and production, urged mobilizing resources, and urged action to unlock western ores and forests and to improve merchant marine capacity.
