Corona boosters meet as active interest in local race grows

Early boosters gathered at city hall and filled the council chamber to hear Earle Cooper announce Corona Auto Racing Association will run the event again. Cooper praised the Corona course and said no Pacific Coast races are scheduled this year, inviting drivers to come to Corona. Ott, head of the association, greeted with cheers as he led the meeting. A man on the East Side of Main Street near the depot tripped over a 40 foot length of fire hose left on the sidewalk after street work. He ranted loudly about carelessness and mocked the person responsible, expressing a wish to address a court on damages.

At a large city hall mass meeting about 5000 residents voiced moral support for the Pacific Electric railroad project. J J Genereux led the push saying PE does not seek money but rights of way and a welcome, with a spur to loop around groves for passengers and freight. A committee drawn up a unanimous resolution urging the extension benefiting Corona, with plans to connect west of town outside the Grand Boulevard.
