Americans Attacked at Night by Mexican Raids on Border

About 100 Mexicans crossed the Rio Grande near Mercedes and partially surrounded 21 troopers of the Twenty-first Cavalry. One soldier was killed and two wounded. Reinforcements were ordered as scouts and rangers hunted for the raiders who disappeared by midnight.

Federal officers warn hunters on migratory bird protections

The U S Department of Agriculture announces strict enforcement of the migratory bird treaty act from October 15 to February 1 in California. Italian resident pleads guilty in liquor ordinance case

Manuel La Porte of Merrill Street admitted violating the liquor ordinance in police court yesterday and paid a $50 fine. A Los Angeles attorney represented him and urged leniency.

The wedding of Miss Mayme Patton of this city to Everett Bethurum of Elsinore occurred yesterday at the bride’s mother Mrs. L. M. Patton’s Sheridan street home. Rev. J. F. Humphrey officiated as only close family friends attended. The residence was decoratively arranged in pink and white.

Stockholders Plan 300 Mile Corona Race In 1915

A Corona assembly of stockholders and auto racing enthusiasts organized to form a racing association. They elected temporary directors and named Ed die Pullen and G Ruckstell as early entrants for the 1915 Corona classic set for November 20. The Branch Furniture and Carpet Co hosted a baking contest in Corona awarding top prizes for bread and cake. Mrs. P Morrow won a gas range for best white bread.
