Riverside county deputies started the Federal census at seven o clock this morning. Director C Dana Durand announced the purpose and safeguards of the 1910 census, stressing its constitutional basis and strict confidentiality under penalty of fines and imprisonment.
Representatives from the Independent inspect the system with R A Eno and A M Bates. Seven main six inch lines run north to the outfall sewer with flush tanks, man holes, and numerous laterals. The septic tank, in two 70 by 12 foot sections, enables cleaning without interrupting function and may irrigate fields.
Mrs. J. W. Grinnell hosted the Cup De Lora club at her residence yesterday afternoon. The ladies enjoyed embroidery and fancy work and were served coffee and assorted cakes.
Riverside businessman W H Polkinghorn announces his candidacy for the Republican nomination for public administrator. He is active in Riverside business circles and fraternal affairs, with broad county support expected in the fall primaries.
The San Bernardino Valley Centennial celebrates a century of settlement with a five day event in May. San Bernardino and Colton coordinate exhibits depicting mining, agriculture, timber and local history. Neighboring towns join with attractions and funding to showcase the valley's progress and climate.
The First Church of Christ Scientist lists Sunday school at 9 45 a m and service at 11 a m with the April 17 lesson The Doctrine of Atonement. A Wednesday testimony meeting is at 730 p m and the reading room is open daily 2 to 4 p m except Sundays holidays and legal holidays.
JALPDeN Tors began work on the Bontoey building transforming it into a Little theatre to house Happy Hour Theatre. Mar Spare plans a safe comfortable moving picture venue with a small stage, footlights, scenery, and a handsome curtain. The project includes an inclined floor, ventilators, a modern lobby, and adherence to fire underwriters rules. The move aims for a late March or early April opening in the revamped Main Street area.
The pastor preaches morning and evening with topics Micah a Prophet of the Poor and A Certain Rich Man. Bible school at 9:30 AM, intermediates at 5, Young People at 6 50, midweek fellowship Wednesday with Christ’s Law of Service. Everyone invited.
Corner Tenth and Ramona announces worship at 10:05 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. with the morning topic Providence and evening The Christian's Sacrifice. Bible school for youths at 4 p.m. Junior League at 1 p.m. Intermediate League at 6:30 p.m. led by Miss Lucy Moore. Communion postponed to next Sunday. Dr. Pitner will attend then.
