Chief Ramsey and officers led a large raid blitz over Saturday to Sunday night arresting a flood of violators including Mexicans in burglaries petty thefts and a prostitution ring on Belle and the N Boulevard. More raids followed in Chase ranch El Cerrito rancho and Prato酒 housing. Prisoners faced fines and jail terms as cards gambling knives and pistols were seized.
Incendiary blaze at J. B. Coplen ranch three miles northwest of town destroyed a hay barn housing four hundred tons of oat and barley hay and swept through the stock stable and four story office and bunkhouse. Residence and one bunkhouse with water tank survived after quick action by ranch hands and city fire department. Loss estimated at 30 thousand plus. $12,500 insured on buildings, residence and two small buildings saved. Fire began around 3 30 a m with extensive machinery and tools also consumed.

A man named Alake started a hay fire by carelessly tossing a match and escaped before the blaze could be controlled. Insurance covered Mr. Coplen with 12,500 dollars for his losses. the policy may not cover all logs. Residents gathered in the morning to view the scorched ruins.
A party of Australian boys arrives in Corona on Friday April 23. Notable member Otto Stenberg, Western Australia champion swimmer, joins Duke Wannahkimau and Daniels of America in an elite group aiming to place in the world top eight. A Corona group led by Chas Seo ville A Buthill Mroo and Mrs Sifohay son G M Donnelly with families journeyed to Pabn Springs desert enjoying the blooming lower plants and warm welcome. The trek passed without mishap aside from a rattlesnake sighting memorialized by a stone each member left. The birthday cake for G M Donnelly capped the expedition.

She has sunk 15 merchantmen including British ships Tamar and Celebs and awaits repair word from the German embassy as collectors demand port departure. The Kronprinz Wilhelm appears in Hampton Roads, provoking surprise as it glides past fleet without salute.
