Corona Defense Club Forms Home Guard in Corona

Mr. Pentelow urged urgent organization and the Corona Rifle Club pledged support to the home guard move. A five member committee was appointed to draft rules and report at a city hall mass meeting on Monday April 9 at 7 30 PM. The group urged residents with no weapons to acquire arms to join the defense effort.

Sans Souci Club Entertained at East Olive Street

The Misses Thrasher hosted Sans Souci club members on East Olive street Thursday night. Guests enjoyed games lively conversation and excellent refreshments. I H Moore Wins Large Vote at Corona School Election

The Corona school election produced a record turnout with 253 votes. I H Moore was elected trustee to replace Ralph W Stanfield who did not seek re election. Fifty three write in votes honored Stanfield while Moore received 200 ballots.

Red Cross Auxiliary Ambition Promoted At Corona

Sunday afternoon at 2 30 the Red Cross auxiliary hosts a meeting at the women’s clubhouse. An active Red Cross nurse will explain first steps for local aid and training for future duties. Membership costs one dollar or more paid at local banks or Perkins’ store. Led by Mrs. T C Sias with Chas Hoss as president and Mrs F J Moeller as secretary-treasurer.

Men from CoronaPrepare to Join Company M

Married in Pasadena Sparks Local Expectation

The marriage of Geo. Snidecor and Miss Marion Kimmell was held in Pasadena at ten this morning with Rev. E A Roys officiating. The couple, including Mrs. Snidecor, left Corona last night and are expected to return this week. Miss Kimmel, former music and drawing teacher, has many friends in Corona.

High School Girls Discuss American Red Cross Talks

Friday morning Misses Christena Fear Dauphine Page and Juanita Brunson in the Oral English class gave five minute talks before the assembly on American Red Cross work. The talks stressed the vital need for nurses and trained personnel behind the lines during the war and promised more student discussions next week.
