Seven men are known to have died in an explosion at the Shoal Creek coal mine near Greenville I April. Ten are missing and four hundred workers were at the mine when the blast occurred underground about a quarter mile from the main shaft. The blast is believed to have been caused by damp and a miner's lamp. Two men were taken out unconscious. others are unaccounted for.
