U S War Declaration Moves Ahead In Congress

Washington April 4 The House Foreign Relations committee reported the War Declaration favorably and the measure goes to the House floor for debate and passage at ten o clock tomorrow. In the Senate Hitchcock and Lodge opened the debate while Stone and Vardaman lead the opposition. Norris faces harsh discussion over his remarks. A call for 20000 artisans will be issued for the quartermaster s reserve corps if the measure passes and the draft ages will start at eighteen to twenty three with further increases as needed. Allies plan to drop printed matter behind German lines to inform troops of President Wilson s speech hoping to sway German opinion.

War Cloud Prompts Postponement Talk On Pageant

A meeting of Pageant of the Nations committee heads and interested members is set for 3 pm tomorrow at the Woman's Club House to decide whether to postpone the Spring Pageant or proceed and allocate proceeds to Red Cross. Debates include patriotic reworkings and keeping spirits up during wartime.

Good Friday Services at Baptist Church Next Friday

Baptists plan a Friday service from noon to 3 PM at the local Baptist church to mark Good Friday. Speakers include Rev S S Sampson Rev J W Utter Rev Quick Rev Geo H Holt Rev E A Roys Rev E S Bickford and a representative minister from the Episcopal church. The Rev speakers will discuss the Last Utterances of our Lord.

Stag Supper At Corona Country Club Draws 75 Guests

Over seventy five men attended the Corona Country club stag dinner at the West Olive street clubhouse. After dinner, entertainment included vaudeville by Trask and Montgomery, wrestling acts by Nick Allen and Mike Steinoff, a Red Cross talk by Mr. West, glove artists Patton and Jay, and bouts featuring Myerl Harris, Lorra ine Freeman, Harold Lamson, and Chas Adams.

Hemet visitors lose to Corons in volleyball at Epworth League

R H Barnes and four Hemet friends attended the Epworth League social at the M E church last night. The Hemet men faced the Corons volleyball team and were defeated in three straight games. Mr Barnes says business is exceptionally good in the Hemet region.
