Repossession of Franklin Ranch Returns to Riverside County

E A Franklin announced in Corona that he and Mrs Franklin have repurchased their Riverside county ranch after years of selling all but one acre. Returning from California where Franklin played solo flute with Sousa and later joined the Long Beach Municipal band, the couple finalized the purchase with Henry Moore guiding the visit.

Riverside lemon club field day honors citrus industry progress

California growers gathered at Riverside for the Lemon Men’s Club field day with talks by Dr. H J Webber of the University Citrus Experiment Station. Attendees toured experimental plots at Mt Rubidoux and Box Springs hill and heard about South Africa and South American markets and California leadership in citrus science.

Forged Check Case Faces Serious Charge

Russel Williamson pleaded guilty to forging a $5.75 check, signing O W Yates and endorsing to Charles F Taft. He appeared before Justice of the Peace H K Stahl and was bound over to Riverside Superior Court. Williamson resides at La Sierra Heights.

There will be no girls ball game tonight as managers report high demand from rivals. An attempt is being made to schedule a game next Friday either locally or in a nearby city, with an official announcement to follow.

Deer Slayers Swarm Into Mountains For Opening Season

Hemet reporters note the opening of the deer season with 200 licenses issued and over 800 hunters in the San Jacinto Tahquitz and nearby ranges. Dozens of deer are reported killed daily, with buck trophies strapped to cars on the road home. Veterans include "Dad" Higgins of Valle Vista as the chamber of commerce assists newcomers.

About fifty thousand pilgrims from around the world attended the canonization of Sister Therese of Lisieux at St Peter’s in Rome. The Carmelite nun known as the “Little Flower” died 28 years ago at age 25.

Glendale Inventor Plans Large Scale Dirigible Ship

Glendale on September 21 reports plans to manufacture a new dirigible here after successful demonstrations by inventor Thomas B. Slate. The craft will use 2000 horsepower motors reach 100 mph, cruise 76 miles, carry 200 passengers and a crew of 14 with a 20 hour cruising radius.

Corona Beats Hemet 10-8 with Late Rally at City Park

Plans to improve San Fernando Road in Southern California

City planners outline work on San Fernando Road including widening to 32 feet and extending paving to 60 feet from San Fernando to Burbank. The project also covers northward paving to the Aqueduct outlet with an eighteen inch cement layer between current pavement and the railroad right of way.
