The K. P. Municipal band performs a Sunday concert at City Park at 2 30 p m under Mr Rouse with a strong program including marches Serenade and Valse Annete The public praises the band’s steady progress and urges the players to stay with it for future recognition by Coronas residents
The Annual Meeting of The Woman's Improvement Club is set for next Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the club house. Officers will present reports, new officers elected, and important matters discussed. Hospitality Day May 18 and the annual luncheon May 25 close the club year.
Curtis Mick of Corona composes the annual High School oratorical contest in Claremont. He will perform a Bryan Cross of Gold excerpt in morning prelims and, if chosen for finals, the full speech in the afternoon. The day included a noon gathering with contestants and faculty from various schools.
California Highway Commission buys about 3 acres at 34th and R streets and Upper Stockton Road in Sacramento to build a modern repair and storage plant. W. G. Hunter travels to Washington to select surplus military equipment for road building under federal programs. The Missionary Society of the Congregational Church met at Mrs Perle Glass's home on Mishth Street Friday afternoon with 24 ladies present. Mrs Coffin led the program with various speakers including Mrs Colby Miss McKennzie and Mrs Wilkins. Mrs Woo Fink reported on the Southern California meeting in Santa Ana. Mrs Glass was assisted by Mrs Charles Miller in hosting and refreshments of cake and tea were served. The room was decorated with sweet peas and roses.
Mr Sprinkle's Sunday School class of boys hosted their young lady friends at a Dome gathering at Wilbert Miller's home on Eighth Avenue streets. The evening opened with games and toasts, with refreshments of sherbet and cake served at the close.
