The Methodist church choir stages a clever two act farce at the Woman's club house directed by Mig Norma R Robbins. Mrs L A Wright stars with Mr L A Fink as music master and Harry Whitcomb in Plymouth Rock Hichens role. The production draws a full house and strong applause.
A protest against alleged excessive gas rates in Corona prompted a conference planned this afternoon in Walter S. Clayson’s office. The meeting includes San Bernardino district manager McAllister, Mayor Be R Nonhof, and City Attorney Clayson. More than 156 gas consumers signed the petition.

While driving east of town yesterday afternoon George M Blair had his car catch fire causing damage to the ignition system wiring hood and spare tires. The blaze was noted near Averill filling station east of Corona and the car stopped near Glen Wilkins home. Helpers included H A Dudley Arlington A W Wade Riverside L B Averill and C C McCarty of the county road department. Damage is covered by insurance.
Rev. J. I. Hill, Southern California District superintendent, will preach tomorrow evening at the mission 213 W Sixth Street and organize a Nazarene church. Ira P. Bowen and his wife, in charge, invite all to attend.
Trustees awarded the contract for drilling the municipal plunge well to Brockman and Sutter. They will furnish casing and perform a complete job at $5 per foot and $35 a day after nine hours if a boulder is hit. A 80 foot deep 12 inch well is planned.
Five players already signed up for the Corona Championship Trophy with about fifty entries expected. O R VanDerhoof, in charge for the Recreation Club, says the date of the entry list will be set after the list is completed. Names should be sent to VanDerhoof or the Independent office promptly.
Fresno reports the purchase of a site for a cotton compress facility at a cost of 325000 dollars. The deal secures land for industrial development and expansion of processing capacity in the region.
