Corona Fourth Of July Parade And Festivities Outline
July Fourth events run July 4 and 5 at Quarry Street to City Park with 55 parade awards in 20 categories. Grand marshal Joe Greer leads along Grand Boulevard at 10 am with veteran, scout, and youth groups. Performances by Rae Howard Kelly McGill and Uncle Veigh. Rock acts Asylum and Motions tease at 1 and 2:30 pm. Donkey game at 4 pm, amateur talent show after. Awards donated by local businesses and organizations.

Rent subsidy assists Corona families under new Riverside program
Low income Corona residents may qualify for Section 8 rental aid in Riverside County starting Thursday. The program, funded by HUD with 1.3 million dollars, will reduce rent to 25 percent of income or 15 percent for very low earners, assisting up to 679 families. Priority to displaced veterans, first come, first served. durations range one to three years, potentially five with extension.

Main Street overpass segment to open tomorrow
The final segment of the Main Street overpass at the Santa Fe tracks, the East Grand Boulevard section, will open for traffic tomorrow morning. Heavy traffic is expected as striping and cleanup follow, with routing plans shifting northbound traffic onto Sixth Street, then Grand and around the northeast quadrant to Main Highway. The project began about a year and a half ago, costing slightly under $2.5 million.

Debbie Alexander joins Marine Corps Delay Program and eyes Annapolis
Debbie Alexander 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ed Alexander of Riverside, joined the Marine Corps Delay Program on Dec 17 1975 and left for boot camp March 11 1976. She was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class on graduation May 10 and is nominated for Naval Academy attendance as a Marine Corps officer pending three months’ decision.
