A camp site fire five miles west of Corona yesterday at 3 p.m. was quickly contained with no damage. One unit from the Corona branch of the California Division of Forestry responded to a roadside fire on Highway 18, finding it started as an unattended camp fire.

New Airplane Can Take Off and Also Land Vertically

A revolutionary vertical takeoff and landing airplane has reached the model stage at Ames Aeronautical Laboratory in Moffett Field. More than 400 aviation executives watched films of the model, which tilts its wings and raises the propellers for takeoff and then shifts to horizontal flight. The model has made three successful remote controlled flights and mirrors concepts from the Convair pogostick and Hiller flying platform. Vertical airliners could reduce the need for long runways.

Paul Camarillo Dies in Buena Park Auto Accident

Paul Camarillo 23 of Los Angeles and formerly of Corona was killed in a Buena Park auto accident Sunday. Born in Mexico he lived in Corona with parents, attended Corona schools, and worked for Foothill Lemon Co. He is survived by Victor and Maria Camarillo and five sisters. Family resides in Mexicali. Funeral services pending.

Bodies of Guide and Californian Found in Oregon

The bodies of 62 year old McKenzie river guide Milo Thompson and 48 year old Aram Adams of Bakersfield California were recovered from the McKenzie river 45 miles east of Eugene Oregon. Earl Smith of Sacramento California is still missing. Thompson and the two California automobile dealers had gone fishing on the river in a small boat.

Barbee Longtime Bank Associate With Overseas Service

David and Marilyn Barbee are noted in a profile of a bank official. Barbee has served Citizens Bank since 1953 mainly as administrative agricultural adviser, joined Perris staff in May after the bank opened a new building there, and served five years overseas with the U S Air Force. He is a UC Berkeley graduate in agricultural economics and previously worked three and a half years as a 4 H farm adviser in San Bernardino County.

Kidnapper posing as pollster abducts mother and infant in Los Angeles

A man posing as a television pollster forced his way into Mrs. Gloria C. Lujan's Los Angeles home and drove off with her nine month old daughter for about an hour before releasing them unharmed. A young woman driver accompanied the suspect. The gun was used to threaten the mother during the ordeal.
