Fires in Corona area burn brush and acreage without endangering structures
Firefighting units from Corona Fire Department the State Division of Forestry and the U S Forest Service battled two fires in the Corona area yesterday. The first fire near Border Avenue burned two to three acres of brush with potential for a major blaze and was contained by 8 30 p m Some of the crew and equipment were staff cars but nine fire companies were involved The second fire in Santa Ana Canyon near Green River Country Club scorched about 80 acres with no homes or structures endangered and crews remained on scene this morning under investigation into the cause.

Riots in Corona Fire Scenes Leave Coast Guard of City Parks
Police arrested 24 people after a two night disturbance around St. Edwards Park at Fourth and Sheridan. Fires and gunfire lit the area as crowds blocked intersections. 14 officers and regional units assisted until about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Arrests included Manuel J. Rodriguez for sawed off shotgun possession and felon in possession, plus 12 others including 10 juveniles.
