The CYO softball team defeated the National Guard 6 to 4 at City Park last night. Tonight the Guardmen face Navy as Navy is listed as the home team in a follow up game. Badminton tonight at the High School gym runs 7 to 10 p.m. for adults. rackets provided, players supply shuttlecocks. The gym hours are 10 to 12 noon and 1 to 5 p.m. daily, with Charles Keers in charge.
California drivers must slow or stop when meeting any horsedrawn vehicle or ridden animal. Section 532 of the Vehicle Code governs this rule after several accidents. Officials say this year’s Centennial celebrations heighten the need as horses join many events.

Bespectacled film comedian Harold Lloyd underwent a serious abdominal operation at St. John’s Hospital. The procedure was performed today and reported successful by medical staff.
Dr. Arnold Stevens said Lloyd should attend the Shrine convention on July 17 in Chicago where he is scheduled to be installed as imperial potentate the order's highest honor.
