Gorona City Council advances new zoning plan in first reading
In a regular session the Gorona City Council moved forward the proposed zoning and building restriction ordinance replacing the planning commission. The board heard about a dozen protestants who urged removing their properties from the business zones but the protests were rejected by unanimous vote. The plan divides the city into four zones manufacturing business civic and residential with the ordinance read and passed on first reading.

A crowd near fifteen hundred packed the West Sixth street boxing arena last night for five bouts ranging from tame to wild. Barber defeated Marbelle in a three round main event. Meyers beat the New Mexico challenger Everesto in a four round exhibition. The Meyers bout drew praise as one of the hardest fought locally with the New Mexico fighter's towel tossed in the ring.

Resurfacing of County Highways Planned in July
Riverside June 27 Four resurfacing projects will start in July and August under Oscar Ford county highways superintendent. Town avenue from Eighth street to County Line road 2.97 miles will cost about 13000 dollars and will use rock and asphaltum without widening. North Main from city limits north of Santa Ana street to 0.6 miles north will receive new surface after equipment is freed from Town avenue work. Two other stretches Hemet to San Jacinto and Winchester to Hemet road will be resurfaced with costs around 4500 dollars per mile. An alternate route to Los Angeles via concrete pavement from Wineville to the county line is noted. Mattich Bros Los Angeles contractors are removing machinery after laying a wide six inch cement road.
