The pilot Donald Annibal and passenger Robert Anger escaped injury when an airship motor failed at 1200 feet above downtown Los Angeles. He glided the craft to land safely on the Los Angeles river bank near Elysian Park.

Lions Install Two Governors at Corona Club Nite

Forestry Officials Inspect Trabuco Road Project

Supervisor Norman J Farrell of Cleveland National Forest and Ranger E A Grant led a field trip to inspect the Trabuco road project. They were joined by Protective Assistant and Mrs William F Mann and Mrs Grant at the Schwendeman home in Trabuco Oaks for the Orange County Farm Bureau summer barbecue. The officials planned a San Diego return, while Grant and Mann also met with Dr C A Wolf of the Santa Ana Botanical Gardens and noted the gardens source many shrubs and plants from the Cleveland forest.

Clark Nominated As Legion Head

Ronald J. Clark was nominated commander of the Wil lam H. Jameson Jr. post of the American Legion at a regular meeting. A. H. Hanapel was named first vice commander and other officers were nominated. The post will meet again July 9 to confirm nominations. The group plans to send its Boy Scout troops to Camp Emerson and voted to donate the Legion hall rear building for Scout use.

450 Consumers Sign For New Promotional Water Rates

Taylor Undergoes Major Operation in Rome

Myron C. Taylor president Roosevelt's envoy to the Holy See and former US Steel chairman had a two hour operation in Rome. Dr. Raffaele Bastianelli and Dr. Allen Whipple performed the procedure. Taylor was reported as doing well after being flown from Florence with Mrs. Taylor.

Council Hears Complaint Over Waste Water Control

City council debated waste water discharge into gutters last night. W. J. Fink said a Grand boulevard pipeline tied to the gutter cost 100 dollars and 25 dollars was paid to the city for water use. The panel ordered the engineer to check for prior claims and keep the ditch open if no others exist. School to Add Five Temporary Classrooms This Summer

The junior high will add five temporary classroom buildings this summer after bids are opened July 11 at 7 p.m. The units, costing $800 to $1000 each, follow condemned building repairs and will allow full-time operation for all grades. A separate $450,000 three-unit building funded by a $200,000 bond will start later in summer.
