Threefold Reception Honors Evelyn Utter at First Christian Church
The First Christian Church hosted a threefold reception at the church parlors for Evelyn Utter returning from the College of Missions in India, marking Rev. J. W. Utter’s 30th anniversary in roinetry and a farewell to Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Mayfield who move to La Sierra Heights. Over a hundred members attended in rooms adorned with red geraniums and greenery. Evelyn Utter performed three songs with Mrs. J. S. Mayfield at the piano, as BR. V. Rolloffs spoke on life and presented the Mayfields a silver set in esteem. Refreshments followed. friends hope for visits to Corona. The report also notes Mrs. Riley’s daughter and Mr. Riley’s work at the Potrero ranch in Triumfo.

Last Rites for Local Pioneer G W Roberds
The funeral for G W Roberds who died Thursday afternoon at his home on West Railroad Street was held yesterday at 3 p.m. from Hoover Wright Undertaking Chapel conducted by Mr George Hijolt of the Baptist Church. The Roberds family includes eight living children and five sisters and one brother. Roberds who was born April 28 1851 in El Dorado California had been blind for nearly twenty five years. His widow Mary Ellen Ashcroft Roberds survives with children in Corona and Los Angeles.
