Corona city council revised frontage paving charges, limiting owner payments to 10 feet of land while the city covers the remainder on Lincoln avenue. The change follows complaints from two property owners who faced 25 feet of land loss and $300 paving costs.
Funeral services for Richard N. Green 74 of 3728 Corona Ave Norco will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Brown and Grimes chapel. He died Monday night in a Riverside hospital. He was a retired oil field worker and father of Corona City Councilman Cecil O Green. Interment follows at Sunnyslope cemetery.
Olympia Rock and Gravel bought 310 acres including the Corona heliport and landing strip used by the Police Aero Squadron from Transit Mixed Concrete. City lease terms require new facilities elsewhere to maintain passenger and mail helicopter service, with several alternative sites under consideration to avoid service loss.
The Daily Independent reports 1093 more Democrats than Republicans registered in Corona Home Gardens Norco and Temescal as of April 12 1956. In Corona ten of fifteen precincts favor Democrats while Norco four precincts are Democratic. Funeral services for Hans Hansen 83 of 3745 Sierra Avenue Norco will be held at 1 a.m. tomorrow at Brown and Grimes Funeral Home with Rev R Orville Sampson pastor of Nazarene Church of Corona officiating. Interment Crestlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include son Neils C Hansen and two other sons Albert T Hansen and David H Hansen, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The U S Weather Bureau predicts five days of near normal temperatures with no rainfall in Corona. Morning low clouds persist west of the coast range through Friday with mostly sunny afternoons and possible winds Friday. Beach highs around 72. coastal valleys 75 to 85. upper desert valleys 80 to 90. lower desert valleys 90 to 100. Northwest readings dipped 10 to 20 degrees while the Southwest rose 5 to 10. Yesterday’s high was 111 at Gila Bend Arizona. low 26 at Fraser Colorado.
Gerta Thys, 24, Miss Denmark of 1953, says two men tried to kidnap her while she walked near her North Hollywood home. A man with a passing motorist intervened and rescued her after she screamed.

Puente in Los Angeles County is the area’s newest city after 19,200 residents approved incorporation by a two to one margin in a special election. Turnout reached 55 percent. The city will cover 444 square miles with council candidates Chester McIntosh David Sprone George Leshcheck Daniel Redman and Dr. Herbert Meisel leading. Officials aim to certify by July 1 as the new fiscal year begins.
Bernice Rothrock and Doyle Oleson were reappointed by the city council to three year terms on the Recreation Commission. Mayor Stearns suggested shuffling positions or adding new members, but councilors noted few volunteers for the work.
The Beverly Theresa Jollie Construction Company of Redlands has obtained 13 building permits for the Lincoln Highlands subdivision at Lincoln Avenue and Tenth Street. Permit valuations range from 10 850 to 12 240 dollars for the homes.
The Venezuelan Super-Constellation, departing New York Idlewild for Caracas, developed engine trouble and crashed into the Atlantic. An Eastern Airlines plane witnessed the nose-down descent as fire enveloped the crippled craft. Among the fatalities was 17 year old Michelle Cassidy. Guillermo Garcia Mendez survived after canceling his boarding.
A 15-year-old Pacoima boy, Joe Pirone Diggs, was stabbed fatally during a party argument over beer. Nine youths were questioned. three suspects Frank Whitt 19 George Pope 21 and Herman Gilkey 15 all of Pacoima were jailed on murder suspicion.
