County Board of Supervisors will convene in Corona on September 13 to discuss city and county plans for a community center and possible use of Corona Senior High School if vacated. City Manager Ralph Pfiffner welcomes the move and cooperation to address mutual problems.
A 34 year old Marine, T/Sgt Julian G. Andrews, died at Corona U S Naval Hospital hours after his alleged killer Pvt Raymond G. Miller died in a high speed crash five miles west of Joshua Tree on the road to Twentynine Palms.
Thirty-five acres of standing grain and five acres of grass burned Friday afternoon on River Road. Owner Bill Reed estimated losses at about $2000. Fire patrols from Pedley La Sierra Glen Avon Corona and the Naval Hospital helped control the two hour blaze.

Daniel Zamora Munoz forfeited 35 dollar bail for failing to appear on intoxication charges.
Lena Arredondo of Corona testified Friday in Justice Court that Genoveva Eaton of 303 East Fourth Street struck her at a downtown laundry. The guilty woman received a $50 fine suspended for two years pending no further violations. Pat Malley and Art Seidler represented the prosecution and defense.
Riverside woman Barbara Snyder Murray 19 and Anaheim man Grant George Perry 36 were driving west on West Sixth Street Sunday evening in Corona. Perry stopped for a car entering Vicentia Street and the second car rear ended the first, with neither driver injured.
