The Corona city council debated land sales to city owned lots on Victoria Avenue. They rejected a $3100 bid from Sal Karl and left Sampselle’s $2600 offer approved, while delaying action for four years to avoid fraud or misused public funds allegations.
Mrs. Arrah Z Berry mother of Mrs. Florence Copenhaver and Mrs. Hazel Thorson died after a short illness at the Norco residence 4234 Woodward Ave. She was born October 12 1875 in Prophetstown Illinois and moved to Corona four years ago. Funeral 11 A.M. tomorrow at Bell Thomas Mortuary Chapel. Interment Pawnee City Nebraska. Surviving include nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, two daughters, one sister and other relatives.
The Norco Grange Number 597, part of the California and National Grange, nears completion of a new Grange Hall at Corona and Reservoir in Norco. The 20 year old organization has grown from 35 to about 200 members and meets on the second and fourth Fridays each month.
Three juvenile boys are in custody at Juvenile Hall in Arlington after a string of burglaries in Norco. Much of the stolen property has been recovered, including four rifles from the Norco Hardware store. Targets included the Flamingo club malt shop Market Ranch grocery store and Orange Heights Water company warehouse.

Grace Rood Gleason wife of Colgate University physics chairman Professor Paul R Gleason died Sunday in Hamilton New York The family plans services in Hamilton with interment in Corona The Gleasons have long ties to Corona including property on Sixth and Main streets and church work with the First Baptist Church Paul R Gleason born in Corona was an ordained minister and now chairman at Colgate University The couple's missionary years in Burma are noted and the widow is expected to arrive for the Corona service.

President Eisenhower’s doctors affirm he is physically capable to seek re election after his surgery. They rejected claims of a looming ileitis recurrence and reported a good night’s sleep meals and outlook as he recovers at Walter Reed.
Corona school board approved a tentative 1956-57 budget of 1,688,465 after months of study. The plan will be reviewed by the county superintendent next month with possible revisions, then finalized by early August. The previous year's budget was 1,518,454.
James L. Merrihew will become Corona Unified School District superintendent on July 1. He sits with the board at its last meeting, where Mrs. Margaret Verity and Virgil Wilson are named new trustees. The meeting marks the final participation for Supt. Kibby and trustees Holton and McNutt, who retire or leave.
