Funeral services for Mrs. R A Newton a 42 year old citrus grower’s wife were held at First Methodist Church with Rev Howard C Taylor officiating. Floral tributes filled the chancel as a mixed quartet sang and eight flower girls accompanied the casket before interment at Sunnyslope Cemetery. She left three children Donald 20 Bob 15 and Alice 18 and is survived by her parents Mr and Mrs F Davis and siblings Stanley Davis of San Francisco and Zilpha Hamner of Arlington.
Los Angeles California state police arrested Adam Sepulveda after a Monday night automobile wreck that killed Frank Gonzales at Orange County Hospital. The driver, Sepulveda, was hospitalized with injuries while Riverside and Orange County officers pursue leads into the crash involving Lawrence Nieto and Gonzales.
County Assessor George V Claviter said utility property valuation gains may offset a nearly three million dollar drop from auto tax privileges. He cited new development by utility firms and statewide reassessments under the Riley Stewart act, with 60 000 taxpayer statements prepared ahead of the July 1 fiscal year. Wind damage to citrus trees limits value gains in the western county while building activity raises overall assessments.
Corona citrus growers report prices at a peak not seen since 1930 with 2,275,000 dollars received locally by the Queen Colony Fruit Exchange.
