Directors ask Riverside County Counsel to decide if Dr C J Calitri is qualified for the NCSD board amid calls and letters challenging his residency. Calitri says he maintains a second home at Parkridge and Western ranch, spending time managing the thoroughbred operation with his wife.
NCSD directors report favorable reception of the first portion of a 2 million dollar EDA sewer grant and forward the second half. Congressman Tunney has engaged on the project as board members contest Calitri's residency status for district eligibility with Riverside County officials to resolve before the June 7 election. If Calitri is disqualified, next-highest vote getter John V Adams would fill the seat.
Thousands packed Panther Stadium for Corona Senior High School graduation ceremonies honoring 456 graduates from Corona and Norco. Salutatorian Randall Stag greeted attendees, Peggy Mellor delivered the valedictory, and principal Phil Donohue announced diplomas.

Houston SPACE CENTER reports astronauts John Young and Michael Collins may attempt a world altitude record of 431 miles during Gemini 10 next month. They plan to use the Agena target satellite for propulsion to surpass the 308 mile Soviet record.
