Non-Union Workers Back on Job at Lockheed Plant

At Lockheed Missiles and Space Division in Sunnyvale non union workers returned to work amid an injunction restraining picketing which a company spokesman called completely successful. The injunction followed episodes causing three injuries, nine arrests, and a traffic tie up as IAM strike activity continued. About 71 percent of the Bay Area workforce reported for duty.

Calhouns mark 65 years of marriage in Norco gathering

The Calhouns celebrated 65 years of marriage dating from their June 16 1895 wedding in Eldorado Kansas. They lived with Santa Fe Railroad work and settled in California from 1908 to Norco eight years ago. They have ten grandchildren and three children Oliver Fay and Pearl Bosley live in Norco Puerrite and Dighton Kansas respectively. A luncheon and a church surprise party capped the anniversary as friends and relatives joined in greeting the couple marking the long marriage.

Balloon Keyed to Mainland Return Near Arguello

The Navy’s last research balloon, pursued across the country and to Hawaii, was spotted off the California coast near Arguello. Radar at a Pacific missile range base between Los Angeles and San Francisco detected the craft lingering 68,000 feet up about 190 miles over the Pacific. Officials planned a decision on whether to shoot it down or keep waiting for a safe descent.
