Six employees named to lead the new L OF Glass Fibers Co plant in Corona begin training in Defiance Ohio and Toledo as the $1 million facility nears completion by August 1. Production manager Harold H. Collier and foreman Charles A. West head the Corona team. Clinton Eckhardt will be personnel manager. The 105000 square foot plant will produce basic glass insulation products, aircraft insulation components, and glass fiber warehousing with full capacity employment planned at 300.

Weekend Crashes Involve Lyle Swaney’s Father Injured
Lyle Swaney’s father W B Swaney 80 of Fort Dodge was injured when his car struck a guard rail on a bridge abutment at Main Street and River Road here at 845 p m Saturday. He was taken to Corona Hospital with a broken nose. The same guard rail was hit in an identical crash two days later at 345 a m with Colin C Jones 19 of Long Beach running a boulevard stop sign on River Road.

Four Teens Injured When Car Hits Power Pole
Corona police examine the scene after a head on crash on Railroad Street near Lincoln Avenue. Driver Donald E. White, 16, suffered a severe skull fracture and head lacerations and was taken to Riverside hospital. Three others, Michael Schumacher 15 Nellie Nelson 16 and Lavanna Pinkerton 16, were treated for head injuries and cuts and released or held briefly. The pole was sheared from its base and carried 20 feet. White will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.
