Thermac Co to Start Operation Here July 8

The Thermac Co plant east of Corona will open July 8 with an expected 200 to 250 employees as moving equipment and personnel proceed. The company manufactures gas appliance controls and sells them nationally, with a large new plant already under construction on Magnolia Avenue near the city limits.

Papers Signed for Construction of Norco Junior High

Corona School Board awarded the Norco Junior High School construction to J B Sooy Construction Co of Redlands. Sooy was the low bidder at 506 850 with bid opening June 3. Approval from the Department of Housing and Home Finance was received this week and the board confirmed the award at the regular meeting last Monday night.

40 Rabbits Smoke Pack a Day at VA Hospital Study

A Dallas VA Hospital rabbit colony smokes a pack daily for five years to test if cigarettes cause lung cancer. About 1.6 million cigarettes will be consumed as rabbits are exposed to controlled smoking, X rayed every six months, and their lungs studied after death.

Corona City Pool to Stay Open for Rest of Season

Corona's City Pool will operate today through Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. and then daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday with instructional slots for youth and women. Separate times are set for boys and girls ages 12 and under and 13 to 18, with women’s classes from 11 to 11:55 if enough demand allows.
