Tomorrow brings graduation at Corona Senior High for about 270 seniors arm promotion ceremonies at Corona and Norco junior highs. Principal Gordon Duncan will certify diplomas and Board of Education President Mark Hendrickson presides while valedictorian Richard Peck and salutatorian John Allen speak. The day features music by the Panther Band and Crimson and Gold Choir, with 300 Corona Junior High students receiving promotion certificates and Norco Junior High honoring top students Susan Cowin and Tim Smith.

Rev Daniel Hogan was installed as commander of American Legion Post 216 Corona after a long career as Legion chaplain and leader across Iowa Indiana California and Canada. He joined the Legion in 1919 and served in numerous posts districts departments and the 40 & 8. Hogan led Corona First Congregational Church for 16 years before retiring in 1952 and was honored in 1958 at Corona High School.

Legion post withdraws offer on La Casita building
The Joe Dominguez Post 742 American Legion canceled its $15,000 bid for the La Casita Recreation Building and will not present a higher offer. Mayor and Council had asked for a compromise between 15,000 and the building's appraised value of 21,000. The post cited civic motive and its prior $3,000 donation plus labor to the project.
