Rodent War Drives Strychnine Barley Across 21 Mile District

A band of twenty from the county horticulturist office and local ranchers spread over 21 miles southwest of Arlington more than a ton of strychnine coated barley to curb ground squirrels rats and gophers. The plan saturated grain draws rodents with molasses to aid palatability while awaiting results. Horticultural Inspectors Corlett and Craft aided distribution along the Mockingbird canyon dam to Holmes estate area as ranchers report crop and young tree damage.
