Recreation Activities Reported Well Organized

The City Recreation Commission held its bi weekly meeting at Hotel Springborg with most members present. Plans for the summer program begin June 18 and the Panther's Den youth center on Belle street is off to a good start. Official opening for adult recreation is set for June 11 and the next meeting will be June 20 at noon.

Truck Hit Injures Zarate Family in Friday Crash

Victor R. Zarate and his 8-year-old son Marion were slightly injured when a truck driven by Frank C. Strong struck them on a Friday evening. Strong, of 122 Hamner Avenue, said he was travelling about 15 miles per hour and was not held.

Norco school held an auditorium program with flag salute and music by Navy Army Air Corps and Marine Hymns. Death of Jesus Diaz in San Bernardino service set

Jesus Diaz of 16th of September street died Saturday June 9 in San Bernardino where he had been a patient for two years. Born June 17 1887 in Deming New Mexico he leaves widow Soledad Diaz and five daughters including Mrs Rufina Rioz and Mrs Elizabeth Hernagdeg and two sons Benjamin Ernest, all of Corona. Services at Baptist Mission 7:30 pm tonight with burial Tuesday at Sunnyslope Cemetery. Rev Paul Ayllon to officiate.

Playground Program Opens June 18 at local park

The playground recreation program opens June 18 at 10 a.m. and runs for about a week before school starts. USO to Expand in Philippines and Hawaii War Zones

USO will operate clubs and provide services in the Philippines at General MacArthur’s request, with expansion plans across the Pacific and in Hawaii where 77 units are active. The effort follows USO’s broad base of over 2500 units across the western hemisphere as troops return from Europe. In Los Angeles, gasoline rationing officials announced the removal of windshield stickers today as new B ration rules raise monthly mileage limits up to 650 for qualified drivers.
