One of the largest junior high classes will graduate Friday at Main Street School. Mrs Perle Glass will present diplomas to 56 boys and 48 girls with valedictorian Paul Ganahl and salutatorian Harriet Ranney. Special music will be provided by the school’s boys quartet girls glee club and orchestra.
Those awaiting delivery of the Independent office’s special stationery may eat for same now as it is printed and prepared for immediate delivery.
Odd Fellows and La Sierra clubs clash at the Corona Odd Fellows hall diamonds this evening with Leon Schmidt and the La Sierra management aiming to settle a heated league question. Managers’ meeting last night outlined a summer schedule for the Odd Fellows Knights of Pythias La Sierras and B K Radio shop lineup.
Positive identification was made this morning of Henry Stemen the prominent Chloride Arizona man found in the river near the irrigation district intake Thursday afternoon. De puty Sheriff Ed Mingle and George Goitt confirmed the body by a unique arm break and clothing loss except shoes. Stemen 58, a property owner and widow leaves. He slipped into Black Canyon while fishing with a party on April 18.
The infant son of Rev and Mrs Henry L Rock of 143 South Central Avenue, aged six weeks, recovered from a severe stomach obstruction after a successful operation at Upland Hospital. Born weighing seven pounds, he lost weight to four and a half pounds by five weeks, then gained rapidly post surgery with marked improvement within a week.
San Bernardino June 11 The Riverside dealer W J Black who drove a fine sedan that struck and killed Mrs Florence Minear last Saturday again failed to appear for questioning. Police say his car was found abandoned in Colton and he may be identified by witnesses. E L Minear vows to file manslaughter charges if Black is apprehended.
The Prado commencement exercises were held Wednesday evening June 4 in the school auditorium with nine graduates seated in a decorative semi circle. County Supt Smith spoke, Theresa Reyes gave the welcome, and the sopomore boys quartet and others performed. Valedictorian Julian Fish and flower girls Edith Pate and Donna Rasmussen were among the speakers and graduates. several eighth graders were listed. Mr. Goodwill and Mrs. Williams led a successful year and plan to teach at Mountain View next year.
