Corona police say two suspects were held on burglary suspicions after a car chase at 4:20 am. George Eason 19 of Norco and a 17 year old Corona youth were found with hub caps a circulating fan and other items matching the Lincoln Avenue garage burglary description.
In Norco two-car crash at Sixth and Temescal Streets injured three people last night. James Drew and his wife of 4270 California Street collided with Mrs Martha Irwin of 911 Sixth Street as she turned into her driveway. Counts: Mrs Drew fractured both legs and an arm, Mr Drew chest injuries and lacerations, Mrs Irwin back injuries. All were hospitalized in Corona. Friday night Rosa Munoz 17 of Foothill Camp Corona injured on Hamner Avenue Norco, treated at Corona Hospital. Ambulance service by Brown and Grimes.
Pacific Air Motors employees from China Edwards Air Force Base and Burbank held a mass meeting to decide on a three month proposal. Local 727 F and 749 IAM voted about 95 percent to reject the proposal and authorize the negotiating committee to call a strike if needed. Jack Codger, Local 749 president of Norco, announced the result.
Actor Robert Donat winner of the Academy Award for Goodbye Mr Chips died early today in a London hospital at age 53. A film company spokesman said he had been suffering from a cerebral disorder similar to Eisenhower s.
Jim Coleman and Lynn Caldwell, Corona graduates from San Francisco State College, departed on a 5000 mile motor scooter trip to Mexico City. They plan a four to six week vacation with a budget of about 100 dollars, aided by sponsors Lambretta distributor Al Fragada and Western Auto dealer N M Hatcher. They expect to send a card from Mexico City and may appear in July.
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors referred to County Administrative Officer Bob Andersen the Corona City Council letter stating Corona should not be part of a no sales tax proposal. Council members Jones and Corona oppose the plan while Palm Springs favors it.
Three non injury accidents occurred in Corona over the weekend. A station wagon driven by Paul J. Oertel overturned on East Ontario Street Friday night with both he and his 13 year old son unhurt. A second collision at East Sixth Street and Grand Boulevard involved David Brady and Otis Towensend. Later, Eugene Sea bolt struck a cement guard rail on North Main Street.
A Corona High School principal says several Corona seniors from the Class of 1958 hope to land summer work in the Corona area to help fund college. Full or part time roles are sought, with interviews arranged through the school. Contact Gordon Duncan or secretary Mrs June Schoenherr.
The Coro na area reported 81 degrees at noon with a 50 degree low last night. Clouds linger along the coast while inland areas spike in afternoon heat through Wednesday. Gusty winds are expected in desert valleys this afternoon and evening.
Riverside County supervisors moved to prepare a resolution banning the open season on does fawns and deer in mountain areas south of Corona along Highway 71 and in Idyllwild and other parts of the county. The action follows a plea by Frank Richey Blythe urging wildlife protection. The board also upheld the Riverside County Planning Commission to close Rim Rock road, despite local property owners asking it stay open.
Funeral services are planned in Beverly Hills for Lew Lewis 71 a prominent orchestra leader who died after a heart attack at his home Sunday. The obituary notes his father J J Lewis was a Venice pioneer developer and highlights his public contributions and local recognition.

Campaign managers for Gov. Goodwin Knight have parted ways with his team to focus on a pair of non partisan ballot measures amid a heavy Democratic primary. The separation was announced by Whitaker and Baxter publishers of the California Feature Service.
U.S. Representative Feighan urged President Eisenhower to expel Russian Ambassador Mikhail Menshikov after a Soviet diplomat faced accusations of trying to buy classified military publications from American writer Charles Beaumet. The move follows the ouster of Nicolai Kurochkin for attempting to obtain military secrets. Menshikov defended Kurochkin, while Kurochkin reportedly denied the charges.
