Norco High Senior Dies After Sewer Drowning Accident

Rodney Walsingham an 18-year-old Norco High senior died after entering a sewer manhole on River Road and being overcome by fumes. Corona firefighters attempting his rescue were also incapacitated. captain Thomas Armstrong and firefighter Rex Vahovich were hospitalized but improving. Walsingham planned to become a missionary after graduation in three weeks. Funeral arrangements were pending at Grimes Norco Funeral Home.

Budget study session reveals potential state funds for district

Corona-Norco Unified School District could gain 380000 to 760000 from an Assembly bill backed by Gov. Brown. Superintendent Augie Ramirez said the bill, AB 65, may pass and could double current aid. budget shows 27 million in income with 26 million in expenditures and various unfunded items, contingent on legislative outcomes.

One-day edge for CHS class of ’77

For the first time in about ten years Corona and Norco High hold separate commencements. Corona High on Thursday June 16 at 7 30 p m at the football field with about 550 expected. Norco High on Friday June 24 at 7 p m on the football field with about 320 graduates. The change comes as Norco runs a longer Concept Eight year than Corona’s quarter system.

Norco debates CRC plant EIR amid council clash with DeBottari

Corona avoids fine by underusing water allocation

Corona City Manager Jim Wheaton said the city used 53.2 million gallons of Western Municipal Water District water in May, well under its 88.5 million gallon allocation, avoiding a 2500 dollar fine from April. The city plans to seek allocation adjustments based on new meters and a nonoperational well, as weather varied from last year.
