Hamner Avenue Reconstruction Could Start in Two Years
State Highway District Engineer W Kane told Corona Chamber of Commerce officials that if new funds are available immediately Hamner Avenue between Corona and Norco could be reconstructed within two years. He noted the road is among Riverside County’s poorest despite a traffic count around 3 000 vehicles daily. The chamber recently approved a 1.5 cent gasoline tax increase to fund needed construction. Plans for a freeway from 395 through Elsinore to the Prado overpass are underway but not yet funded.

The dedication of the First Congregational Church furnishings including the altar table dossal and ornaments is postponed to June 28 due to delays in shipment. Coronan Faces Weapons Charge Then Drunk Driving Arrest
Gordon Campbell Pigman 47 of Pepper Corner was charged with weapons control violations after reporting a theft of a machine gun rifle and machete. He failed sobriety test after nearly colliding with Fire Chief Hart who chased him to the curb on West Eighth Street. Pigman jailed as he awaits arraignment in Temescal District Court. Also jailed was Lawrence Torres 206 Washburn Street accused of abusing his daughter Virginia 13 and taken into custody by Officer Compter who witnessed the battery.
