Mr and Mrs E Anderson of 115 Burr Street report their son Willard was wounded in the foot and is hospitalized with the Ninth Army in Germany.
The Corona city plunge is expected to open June 8 after the school year ends. Council action on the matter may occur at the Tuesday evening meeting. A traffic collision at West Sixth and Lincoln streets caused property damage with drivers R. E. Mason of Riverside and Phillip McElhaney of Corona involved.
Pvt. Bob Snedecor, training at Camp Roberts, visited home over the weekend with his wife and child. The Dixie division unit in Mindanao under its general praise notes 31st Division advances with 100 miles of bridge repairs. Californian engineers built or rebuilt nearly 100 bridges, hauled 300 tons of equipment, and spanned rivers and canyons with Bailey bridges and pontoon footings while keeping 24 hour guards on machine operators. Private Birdsall, son of Corona residents, also noted.
Government moves to lift bans on Thompson white seedless and muscat grapes for wine making, with wartime supply boosts from distillers and lend-lease raisins. Officials expect more grapes released will lower California wine costs and boost sales as prices decline.
Twelve Coronans from Corona joined the army registration through the Selective Service in May. The list names Benny Gonzales Camacho Jer Ald Edward Hastings Leo Benedict Jessie Sotelo Ramirez John Stephen Way Epifano Aguila Delgado Lyle Therone Gregg George William Meuser William Jack Farmer Isabel Lopez Murillo Chester Matthew Collins and Lupe Gonzalez Hernandez.
