Corona County to assume operation of dump cleanup

Riverside County takes over cut-and-cover cleanup at Corona City Dump starting Monday June 9 with full completion by Wednesday. The city donated land and long term lease, with state and county involvement, to create a reclamation ready site named Riverside County Disposal Area Number Two.

Traffic Sparse in Corona Over Memorial Day Weekend

Corona saw a quiet three day period with only minor incidents. A bicycle collision with a car injured a six year old in Corona. A one car crash occurred in Norco. An additional accident involved Mrs Maclean Dumble in Corona. She and her daughter in law were treated and released.

Memorial Day deaths top 360 in California traffic toll

California led holiday fatalities with more than 360 traffic deaths during the Memorial Day weekend. National totals reached 596 overall, including 142 drownings and 78 other accident deaths. At least 34 deaths occurred on California roads and 16 drownings. Meanwhile at Mount Pulaski Illinois residents returned after a railroad tank car explosion killed two and injured 40, with over a million dollars in damage. Police guarded routes as some residents returned.
