Bottel told the board that peach mosaic disease is now found in several parts of the United States with infection points in San Diego San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Bottel was authorized to apply for state and Federal funds and to be absent from the state for a 10 day period starting June 7.
California’s minimum wage law remains intact despite a Supreme Court ruling on New York’s statute for women and children. Timothy Riordan, chairman of the state labor commission, stated the agency will enforce the law to the letter. Cyrus H. McCormack, former chairman of International Harvester and son of the reaper inventor, died at 77 in Lake Forest, Illinois, after a heart attack.

DETROIT. Detective testified at the examination of 14 men charged with the slaying of 32 year old Charles A Poole a Hooded Black Legion member. Poole was taken on a one way ride and shot by two Legionnaires after facing seven members on a West Side road. The testimony cites Dayton Dean as trigger man and the alleged confession.
Emerson was awarded the school bus contract by the board of education for three years at 901.25 dollars per year. The upgrade adds a fifth bus and shortens pupil travel time, with 30 minutes of service before and after school on most routes.
