Workers plan a 12:15 luncheon at Old South Tavern to review reports and close the Community Chest campaign. The drive ends Thursday night with all subscriptions due to team captains, Corona aiming to meet the target as in wartime Liberty Loans.
Social events and club meetings listed for the week in Corona including a 6 30 p m Congregational supper a 7 30 p m psychology class and Kiwanis meeting with a trip to Anaheim events at the W I C house Pythian Sisters Lions Club and Rotary gatherings plus weekend market day and church.
Rev. Fletcher G. Watson of Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church urged Sunday observance and led a collection to fund advertising and organization for opposing the repeal of Pomona’s blue law. Local voters face the February 17 special election on the Sunday closing ordinance, with the American Legion leading the opposition and a history of division in 1921.
The California 40 and 8 chapter plans a Crown Tage chartered by local members for a Riverside Orange and San Bernardino counties gathering in Anaheim. The event features a parade initiation and a social with eats, with several hundred veterans expected to attend from the tri-county area.

Principal advertising in The Independent pays off at Lincoln school after a broker repaired the flag atop the pole. Jani tor N. C. Green enlisted help, the flag was restored, and the flag now flies again over school grounds as residents praise Corona County’s progress. County leaders shared updates from Riverside to Coachella, including a $20,000 motion picture house, new blocks, street lights, and the proposed federal toll bridge at Blythe across the Colorado River.
Stockholders of the Corona Country Club Holding Corporationaccepted a proposal by Dan Gildkey to affiliate with the Parkridge Country Club as it builds two miles northeast of Corona. The arrangement preserves Corona’s identity, retains current members, and allows continued programs while adding golf, swimming and tennis facilities. Parkridge golf course work is advancing with seven holes roughed in and a water supply being secured.
A contract has been awarded in Richmond for the construction of a natatorium at a cost of 85 thousand dollars. The project includes building facilities and associated amenities, with completion expected within the planned city development.
Farm Bureau announces walnut wire-bracing demonstrations during the last two weeks of January. Walnut specialist W. B. Hoover of the agricultural extension service will conduct sessions at John Hamner grove 1002 Magnolia avenue January 20 at 9 30 a m and Root Brothers grove Elsinore at 1 30 p m and on January 21 at 10 a m at C N Nordel grove Hemet.
