The Corona Athletics hosted Cal-Oaks and Pomona Merchants in turn, winning one game and tying another. Pitcher Tito Cortez suffered an eye injury and was hospitalized, with doctors unsure about his sight. Gibson of Cal-Oaks homered twice while Ray Bega hit a homer for Corona.

On December 47 Troop 41 from Stott Church explored near the Los Angeles City playground. They traveled with five scooters, snow saucers, two sleds and a wooden runner sled. Boys listed include Tony Chavez, Lesnard Rivera, Nicandro Pugo, Paul Miranda, Tommy Russ, David Felix, Fred Galvan and Frank Moreno. Three-fourths had never played in a snow before. meals were baked beans and hot chocolate. The troop, formed Nov 3, has grown to 21 boys after two camping trips at Camp Butterfield and Camp Buttettela.
James Ruben Bryan formerly of Corona died at Las Vegas Hospital on December 24. He was active locally from 1899 to about 1965 when he became interested in mining. A Missouri native, he moved to California in 1888, settling in Fresno. He is survived by sister Flora B. Horry of Los Angeles and nephew Hivin J. Bryan of Modesto. Funeral services were held at Sunnyslope Cemetery in Coéfdne on December 27.
George H. McLain heads a 26000 member Citizens Committee for Old Age Pensions and delivers an initiative measure to Attorney General Fred W. Howner in Los Angeles to amend the state constitution for the needy aged. The measure requires 204672 certified signatures and would raise maximum payments from 80 to 75 dollars for the aged and from 75 to 85 for the blind, with eligibility ages 63 or 65 based on residence.
