Corona relief fund seeks required 19 dollars 50 cents

The Los Angeles Express notes Corona as an early southern district leader in the united relief drive for starving European children. Corona’s submitted quota plus overage totals 1637.50 dollars, enough to aid 170 children when distributed in ten dollar units. Ralph De Palma Briefly Visits Corona

Renowned auto race driver Ralph De Palma stopped at the Del Rey hotel in Corona on Sunday to buy cigars and sign the hotel register. He was accompanied by Mrs. De Palma and Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Herreshoff of New York City. He likely drove a lap around the Corona circle to inspect its current condition.

Christmas Cantata At First Baptist Receives Warm Applause

The Christmas cantata The King of Peace at First Baptist Church Sunday evening drew the largest local crowd in months. Directed by Mrs. George E. Snidecor, the 24 voice choir was supported by visiting musicians Norma Rockhold Robbins and Bonnie Rockhold. The program featured multiple solos and choruses with Rev A P Howells closing, and Ma bel Arbon on piano and Mrs Geo Randells on organ accompanying.

Funeral services for the late Mrs Dennis E Newton were held at the Methodist church with Rev I A Engle in charge and Rev S S Sampson of Orange preaching the sermon Owing to a contagious disease the body and immediate family were not present at the service Undertaker J Hoover took the body to Santa Ana for burial A quartet provided music and Miss Kimball a soloist led by Mrs Diss Murray provided additional performances She was born 1871 in Loch Sheldrake New York and lived in Richmond Wayne Nebraska Corona and finally Corona Mrs Newton is survived by her husband two children her mother two sisters and a brother The American Federation of Teachers opens its national convention at St Paul today and a conference in Guelph Ont to promote a Students Christian movement in Canadian universities

Sunday police reports list several traffic violations in Corona. J A Ludd of Oak was arrested for driving 25 mph in a 15 mph zone. hearing set for December 30. D Griffin cited for no tail light, J F Allen stopped for a single head light. M D Smith of Riverside also noted for no tail light.

Mrs W Corkhill and daughter Ada hosted a large family Christmas with tree and dinner. Plans for Big Bang? Riverside meeting date set

W. W. Van Pelt of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Riverside county, in Corona, discussed the date for the county chambers gathering with Corona officials. Corona had proposed January 18 for the joint meeting and also plans its annual banquet on January 15. Chester A Harding, new Corona chamber president, said a committee would work out banquet details, promising a major event.

Funeral services set for victim of auto accident

Funeral services for C. B. Brazie will be held at Smith & Tuthill in Santa Ana on Wednesday at 1 30 PM. He died instantly when the car overturned into a ditch twelve miles west of Santa Barbara last Thursday. J. O. Cooper of Corona and other passengers were seriously injured and treated in a Santa Barbara hospital. Brazie and his wife had lived in Corona after moving from Santa Ana about two years ago. Brazie was part of Brazie & Robinson, alfalfa ranch owners near Corona Lemon Co. The family had delayed plans as Mrs Brazie was unreachable after the crash.
