Longacres Tour Dam and Ranger Work Near Glendale

Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Longacre visited Hoover Dam and nearby sights last week while their children Paula and Donald stayed with grandparents in Glendale. Federal Ranger Goongacre, aided by CCC enrollees, is building motorways and firebreaks in the Trabuco district as part of a multi year watershed protection plan south of the city.

Woman Injured in Third and Joy Crash

At the intersection of Third and Joy streets late Friday afternoon G Balderez 37 of 414 Victoria avenue received a traffic citation for reckless driving from Officer Archie VanderVelden. Balderezs car and D Renza 23 Joy avenue were involved. Renza was taken to Arlington County Hospital with multiple cuts bruises and possible internal injuries.

Arlington man jailed after traffic citation ignored

Because he ignored a traffic citation given him by a California highway patrol officer, Mike Grajalla of Arlington faced multiple charges. In justice court Saturday, Justice C. C. Johns sentenced him to 90 days in the county road camp and he was immediately jailed by Con stable George F. Liebig.

Operators Tests Here Are Said Discontinued

The California highway patrol has canceled weekly operator examinations in this city and county towns. Officers will remain on the highways, requiring motorists to travel to Riverside for tests.

Painters and decorators long engaged in a SERA project complete their work on the city hall and other municipal buildings placing gold leaf on lettering in front of the city hall structure.

Turkey shoot crowns C Carwile for Riverside officers

C Carwile, a Riverside fire department member, won the turkey shoot by one point over B F Nelligan of Riverside at the Riverside County Peace Officers association event. Both winners took home turkeys, with Carwile handicapped by a short barrel revolver.

Fire damages shingles at Mrs Brownell home

A general alarm at 10 30 p m sent the fire department to extinguish a blaze on the shingle roof ofMrs Brownell s home at 1108 South Main Street. There was only slight damage and sparks from the flue are believed to have started the fire.

City plans detailed real estate card catalog project

SERA workers will compile a project listing every real estate property with full descriptions on individual cards for use by the city clerk and treasurer. The records will be filed in a specially constructed cabinet in Clerk A. M. Hinkley's office.

The Good Will Industries organization was thanked by The Independent for help given to Corona residents. Over 500 needy persons in the Riverside Corona district were assisted by the group during 1934.

UC branch saves 60-year-old fig trees by surgery

A landscape gardening class at the University of California Branch of the College of Agriculture performed tree surgery to preserve a stand of 60-year-old fig trees. The trees remain in good bearing and healthy condition.

Members and friends enjoyed a fine Thursday afternoon concert at Alvord School. Vladimir Lenski led violin numbers by Kreisler and Lenski with Mrs. Ruth McKenzie singing selections by Brahms and Cadman, along with several folk and classical pieces.
