Arthur Brewster Tuthill, Corona pioneer since 1890 and former mayor, died of pneumonia at his home 1117 Sheridan Street Friday evening in his 81st year. A longtime public servant and musician, he helped shape local roads and civic life after arriving from Joy Prairie Illinois in 1890. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 11 am in the Bell chapel with Temescal Lodge A.F. and M. conducting burial rites at Sunnyslope Cemetery.

Joseph Biliston aged 36 and his wife Mary 32 of San Rafael were injured when their Taylorcraft airplane struck a high-tension wire while approaching the San Carlos airport. The craft flipped onto its back. Biliston suffered a back injury and Mrs Biliston a neck injury. Roy Patton, airport manager, said Elliston apparently failed to see the power line.
The Corona Foothill Lemon Co. reports a new two boom citrus spray system with independent pumps and a 100 hp motor. Each boom has Haydie guns, adjustable angles, and ball joints. The setup delivers up to 110 gallons per minute at 550 psi, spraying both sides or one side as needed for red scale control.
In Los Angeles burglars stole gifts valued at 1200 dollars from beneath a Christmas tree at the home of Charles Marsalisi an automobile dealer. Marsalisi said the family returned home from a visit to find all gifts missing except the tree.
Pomona United Press dispatch reports Northrop aircraft Salisbury motors plant in Pomona reopened several departments today after a two week shutdown blamed on the coal strike and freight embargo. Officials say full production will be delayed until steady raw material supplies are guaranteed.
Sam Shockley and Miran E. Thompson, both convicted of murder for participation in the Alcatraz revolt, were sentenced to death and await transfer to San Quentin for execution. A three year old girl, Pella Salgado, darted into the street in front of the Circle theater in Corona and was struck by a car. She sustained minor injuries and was taken to Corona Hospital where she was later released. No citation was issued against the driver, Santos Barboa Ramirez of Corona, and the incident was investigated by Corona police.
A non-injury collision occurred today at Fifth and Ramona Street at about 10:30 a.m. Claude H. Ragsdale of 927 West Seventh Street struck Lloyd L. Stewart of 122 Francis Street as Stewart traveled west on Fifth Street. Both drivers escaped injury with slight damage to both vehicles.
