The Social Activities Club held a Christmas dinner at the Episcopal Center followed by a tree lighting and gift exchange. Members planned to distribute toys and clothing to needy city families, with carols, refreshments, and festive greenery decorating the table.
Mr and Mrs J Albert Chaney hosted a dinner party at 1024 Victoria Avenue Thursday night. The hall glowed with candles and holiday color while guests enjoyed Ske-Ball and Tripoley after dinner. Attending were Mr and Mrs Charles Verity Mr and Mrs William Kilby and Mr and Mrs J Eugene Blair.
The Good Samaritan Baptist Church class hosted its fifth annual Christmas party in the Girls Clubhouse. About 100 children enjoyed songs and readings by Dotty Huffman Barbara Taylor Genevieve Nelson and Tommy Gunderson. Santa distributed gifts as refreshments were served and decorations brightened the clubhouse.
The Pythian Sisters hosted a Christmas party at the R. F. Ropp home on Wednesday night. Hosts were Mrs. Ira Misenheimer Mrs. Harold James and Mrs. R F Ropp. Entertainment included the game 500 won by Mrs. Horace Phillips with Grace Campbell low. Gifts were distributed by Santa Claus Mrs. Misenheimer. Attendees included Mrs. Max Zumstein Ruth Phillips Carnelia Gruhl Jeanette Humble Margaret Patterson Dorothy Baker and others.
Rebekahs and Odd Fellows held their annual Christmas party Thursday evening in their lodge rooms. Santa Claus distributed candy nuts and gifts to members and families. A large Christmas tree with lights and decorations provided attractions as a pleasant program followed the gift distribution.
A marriage license has been issued to Richard Moreno 24 and Mary Loza 16 of Corona. Mr and Mrs Pete Landwehr Miss Mary Martin and Mrs Mary Kampling of Wellington Kansas arrived at the H Kampling home Tuesday and will stay there. Mrs Louis Johns spent Wednesday with her sister Mrs Rex A Williams in San Bernardino. She returned with her son Wallace who had been visiting his aunt Mrs Chester Gould and daughter Miss Elige Dean in San Diego. Miss Katherine Riordan guest at Charles Hancock home returned to Long Beach today. Mrs Adelaid Reynolds, two weeks with Mr and Mrs H F Morrison, returned to her home in Pomona Thursday. Justice of the Peace Frank Stevens of Mecca turned over his office financial records to County Auditor Ray Hicks. Stevens said illness delayed filings since last May, an investigation began after the board ordered up to date books for grand jury scrutiny.

Riverside County Scout Executive Carl Helmick reports Franklin D. Roosevelt, honorary BSA president, sent the annual Christmas message urging Scouts to serve others and aim for future leadership. John Tullis forms a Washington school Boy Scout troop with PTA sponsorship. Jim Jameson and Dick Smith to lead the new unit at the next meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Day Jewell and Mrs. Henry Linscheid of the Auxiliary to W H Jameson Jr Post 216 visited the San Clemente unit Thursday. Jewell spoke as 21st district president and Linscheid as district motion pictures chairman, reporting unit activities to district visitors. Other official visits to units and hospitals will follow. About 12 boys have attended meetings in the Sunday School building with intent to form a troop. No official organization yet, but plans are in place. The next meeting is Tuesday at 7 PM. all interested are invited to attend.
