Detroit Lions begin practice for the NFL title game against Cleveland. Coach Parker says mild sessions to avoid injuries as they attempt to become the first team to win three straight championships while Cleveland seeks its third straight title game loss.
Parker leads Detroit with confidence the Lions will keep beating the Browns after a 17-16 win following a 24-17 victory in p51. Cleveland had eight losses to Detroit under Parker since taking over four years ago, with a late score by Jug Girard in the final 50 seconds.
Riverside Poly Bears dominated Corona Panthers 82 38 with a fast start and strong inside play. Ray Yoast scored 17 in the first half and Ray Stith led Riverside with 27 points while Corona’s defense struggled throughout the game. In Santa Barbara a toy radio unit inside a Christmas package triggered a prank as employees loading a plane heard a voice calling all aboard for San Francisco. Postal authorities traced the voice to the package and the incident prompted an investigation.
