Assemblyman Murray and Family Die in Ridge Route Crash
Assemblyman Alfred C. Murray 37 and his wife Florence 35 along with their son Alfred Jr. 9 were killed in a Saturday night auto crash seven miles north of the Grapevine Ridge Route. The baby Tattle Ward 1 escaped injury. Mrs Murray’s mother Mrs Armstrong of Woodland was seriously injured and is not expected to live. The party, en route to Riverside for Christmas, collided with a heavy trailer in wet conditions after attempting to pass a truck. The Murrays had planned to visit in Woodland and later Sacramento for Gov Elect Young’s inauguration and the legislative session opening. Murray, a rising Riverside County politician, had just begun his second term representing the 77th district. He was a close friend of Governor elect Young and a charter member and recent president of the Exchange Club.
