Kaiser plan accord marks milestone in labor talks
Kaiser Steel Corporation and United Steelworkers AFL-CIO announced a long term sharing plan after 104 days of strike losses. Dr. George W. Taylor led a press briefing outlining a two fold approach to productivity and human values with a one third employee share of gains. Edgar F. Kaiser and David J. McDonald described a committee developed plan non profit based and designed to reduce yearly bargaining and foster industrial peace. The final adoption decision rests with the parties.

Bond vote set for Corona district February 26
Corona Unified School District trustees set February 26 for a 3.5 million bond election and a 3 million state apportionment ballot. Dr. James Merrihew said facilities costs require at least 3.1 million plus a 3 million loan. Bond funds must be for buildings, grounds and furniture, not salaries. An added junior high is projected at 1.506 million, with Norco additions of about 250 thousand. Secondary enrollment climbs toward 2,767, driving a 850 thousand equipment need and a 2.6 million total for facilities.

Salton Sea Club pushes plan to upgrade North Shore camping
The Corona Boat and Ski Club launched a drive to improve the Salton Sea North Shore with a petition demanding grade and clear a 200 foot beach strip, graded roads, sanitary facilities every 600 feet, and boat ramps every quarter mile. Commodore Lynn Lillibridge cited overcrowding and unsafe conditions as the motive, noting Mecca Salt Creek facilities and Mecca Beach capacity constraints. The petition has more than 30 signatures.

Justice Dept Seeks Early Trial For Communist Leaders
The Justice Department seeks an early trial for Gus Hall and Benjamin Davis after a 35 minute jury verdict finding the Communist Party of the United States guilty on 12 counts of failing to register as agents of the Soviet Union. Judge Holtzoff fined the party 120000 but collection is stayed pending appeal. Hall and Davis, national chairman and executive assistant, were indicted for failure to register as officers of a Communist action organization.

Woman Held After Knife Attack Kills Two? No
Norman Jean Morello 25 of Mountain Ave is jailed in Corona on assault with deadly weapon charges for stabbing George Lee Gatewood 49 at his home in Pomona. Gatewood suffered multiple back and leg wounds and was treated at Riverside General Hospital. Morello resisted arrest in Norco and in the patrol car, requiring restraint by officers during a ten minute struggle. She is due for arraignment in Corona Municipal Court and investigators say she admits the attack but offers no further information.
